CANBERRA  435……local outreach ministries of YWAM Canberra

Think global, act local! – What we want to do amongst the nations, what we train and send others to do, we must do right here in Canberra.

Inspired by the NOW of John 4:35 and the ALL of Mark 16:15 we GO with God’s love and truth, in word and deed, to the people of our city and our neighbourhood. These are the ones we see immediately when we open our eyes and look around us.

Some of the current local ministries of Canberra 435

  • The Pantry – subsidised weekly food outlet for anyone finding it tough financially; providing a place of belonging with time for a cuppa and a chat
  • Hands On – “more than a craft group” – making lovely and useful things to bless others with; providing a place of belonging and creativity.
  • English@Dickson and  English@Belco –  twice weekly ESL classes with English for daily living and bible story telling; providing a place of belonging and friendship, sharing conversation over a meal
  • UC Muslim connection – reaching the many Muslims who work and study in our city.
  • Monthly nursing home ministry –  music, dramas and conversation with residents
  • Doorknocking in our suburb – to tell people about our services and groups, to make community connections, and to find ‘people of peace’
  • Supporting local churches in their outreach and evangelism programs

We partner with other Canberrans and churches for the end vision – to see a network of simple/house churches planted and multiplying throughout different spheres of influence, drawing the unchurched into relevant and thriving fellowships.

John 4:35 “As you look around right now, wouldn't you say that in about four months it will be time to harvest? Well, I'm telling you to open your eyes and take agood look at what's right in front of you. These Samaritan (Watson / North Canberra / Canberra) fields are ripe. It's harvest time!” (adapted from The Message)
